Romans 3:10 "There is none righteous, no not one."
No one is good enough to go to Heaven on his own merit. No matter how much good we do, we still fall short. We were born with a sin nature, which was passed down from Adam to every generation.
Romans 5:12 "Wherefore, as by one man sin entered into the world, and death by sin; and so death passed upon all men, for that all have sinned:”
Romans 6:23 "The wages of sin is death; but the gift of God is eternal life through Jesus Christ our Lord."
Just as there are wages for good, there is punishment for wrong. The penalty for our sin is eternal death in a place called Hell.
Romans 5:8 "But God commendeth His love toward us, in that, while we were yet sinners, Christ died for us.”
Christ demonstrated just how great His love for us was when He gave His life on the cross. He laid down his life to pay our sin debt.
Romans 10:13 "For whosoever shall call upon the name of the Lord shall be saved.”
Everlasting life in Heaven is a gift purchased by the blood of Jesus and offered freely to those who call upon Him by faith. The Bible does not require good works, absolute dedication, or any other payment for Heaven; accepting Christ's finished work on the cross is the only way to Heaven.
While there are certainly no magic words to pray, we know it can be awkward trying to talk to Jesus for the first time. Here's a simple prayer for you to use as an example.
JESUS,
I KNOW I'M A SINNER, PLEASE FORGIVE ME OF MY WRONGS. I BELIEVE YOU DIED ON THE CROSS TO WASH AWAY MY SINS. I BELIEVE YOU WERE RESURRECTED FROM THE GRAVE THREE DAYS LATER. I ACCEPT YOUR GIFT OF ETERNAL LIFE. I'M CALLING ON YOU, JESUS, TO SAVE ME ONCE AND FOR ALL. PLEASE COME INTO MY HEART AND SAVE ME AND TAKE ME TO HEAVEN WHEN I DIE. AMEN.
If you accepted Christ's gift of salvation today, we would love to hear about it! You can send us an email at lbcdenair@gmail.com. We would love to pray for you and to send you some more ideas about what to do next!
